An 8.8 km Path Maintenance hike from the west coast and Batsi to the central Andros mountain and the Arni valley followed by a “Wine Festival” with local cuisine provided by the Arni Association.
Meeting time: 9.45 am Meeting point: Batsi waterfront parking
At the start of the hike we cross the scenic seaside settlement of Batsi to the ancient wide paved path known as the Plakotos Route and turn towards Katakilos. We pass through verdant areas with wonderful views to the western coastline and Batsi Bay and then we descend from the chapel of Agia Anna to the scenic settlement of Katakilos. After Katakilos we climb up to Ano Katakilos and continue towards lush Arni with its splendid streams and springs. On our way, we will correct waymarking signs, prune back overgrown areas and improve the path surface by lifting fallen stones and placing them on adjacent dry stone walls.
At the end of the hike, a traditional feast – a wine festival provided by the local Arni Association
Finally, return by coach from Arni to Batsi
