A 6.3 Km hike from Panachrantos Castle Monastery, to the fertile valley of Livadia. Visiting and touring the Panahrantos Monastery, the Liokitra Estate and the Raptakis estate and a light snack from the Livadia Association. In the evening, a special screening of the film “Little England” by Andros Cinema Society
Meeting Time : 9:45 am. -Meeting Point for transport to start of hike: Chora, Voyiatzidis building
The hike starts with a transfer by coach to the impressive Panachrantos Monastery. After visiting the Monastery, the hike descends, giving wonderful views of Chora and the Messaria Valley, to the riverbed of the Livadia River. It then passes successive intersections with other hiking routes before crossing the riverbed of the Megálou Potamoú (Great River) and continuing along the river to the Liokitra estate. At the estate, a break, a guided tour of the beautiful citrus orchards. Then the hike continues alongside the riverbed passing the impressive fields of citrus trees enclosed by lines of huge cypresses. The hike ends with a visit to the Raptaki estate where the Cultural Association of Livadia will offer a local snack.
The light snack from the Livadion Association is followed by another 30 minutes of walking back to Chora.
The film screening starts at 21:15 – Chora Municipal Theatre. The film “Little England”, refers to the nautical tradition and the history of Andros. Screening organised by the Andros Cinema Society.
