In the morning, a visit to the exhibition of contemporary art of the Kydonieos Foundation as well as to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chora is recommended. In the afternoon, a 5km afternoon hike descending from the Agios Nikolaos Monastery to the lush riverbed and arched bridge of the Achla river and then ascending to the highest mountain village of Andros, Vourkoti. Finally, a lovely lunch, provided by the Vourkoti Association including the local speciality “fourtalia” (local omelette with sausages) and mountain cheese tasting.

Transported by coach from the Meeting Point to Agios Nikolaos Monastery, our hike begins with a downhill walk towards the riverbed and arched bridge of Achla, a lush and magnificent location of flowing water and rock pools. We then continue an uphill climb parallel to the river towards the foothills of the central mountain range of Kouvara to reach the picturesque mountain village of Vourkoti, the highest mountain village of Andros. This is one of the most enchanting routes of Andros, with magnificent views from the mountain ridge, impressive lush vegetation and abundant water, an area of invaluable biodiversity.
At the end of the hike, there is a meal of local produce, including the local speciality “fourtalia” (local omelette with sausages), and mountain cheeses tasting hosted by the Vourkoti Association in the old school square.
