THURSDAY 17 OCTOBER 2019 – A SHORT VISIT TO THE BYZANTINE CHURCH OF AGIOS IOANNIS & A 7KM HIKE FROM AIDONIA-PISO MERIA-TROMARCHIA MONASTERY & LUNCH OF LOCAL DISHES

A short visit to the Byzantine church of Agios Ioannis Theologos followed by a 7km hike in South Andros from the Aidonia village through the foothills of the Rachi mountain range to Piso Meria and to the Tromarchia Monastery. Lunch of Local dishes.
The day starts with a coach transfer from the meeting point in Ormos Korthi to the Byzantine church of Agios Ioannis Theologos in Korthi village. Then another coach transfer to the starting point of the route to Aidonia beautiful marble springs. We cross the beautiful village of Aidonia with the tower houses and after crossing the skewed bridge, a remarkable folk art work, we continue through the picturesque villages of Korthi, Amonakleiou, Nionas, and the area of Piso Meria to the Tromarchia Monastery. The view towards the west coast is breathtaking.
At the end of the hike, at around 2:30pm, in the ancient Monastery courtyard, lunch of local produce, by the Parents Association of Piso Meria school.
At around 4:30pm, after the meal, Special Festival buses will run back to Ormos Korthi, Chora, Batsi and Gavrio.
