MONDAY 7 OCTOBER 2019 – 7KM – BATSI TO AGIOS PETROS – TOWER VISIT – LUNCH OF LOCAL PRODUCE

A 7km Hike from Batsi to the Agia Kastro Monastery and on to Agios Petros ancient tower. A feast at Agios Petros spring hosted by the Agios Petros Cultural Association followed by a guided tour of this Hellenic period tower.
The hike starts from the sea-front parking in Batsi with a climb to the Agia Kastro monastery with wonderful sea views towards the western coastline. We will make a short stop for a visit to the monastery and then continue upwards to the mountain settlement of Agios Petros, where there is an impressive view of Gavrio bay.
The hike ends under the plane tree by the spring in Agios Petros village square where a lunch of local dishes and music will be provided by the Agios Petros Cultural Association.
Lunch will start at around 3pm.
After lunch at around 4:30pm a short descent from the village to Agios Petros Tower for a short tour of this Hellenic Period construction then return by coach to Gavrio & Batsi around 5:15pm.
