After a short visit to the Monastery\, the hike starts\, walking north\, enjoying the amazing views to the west of the island.  We pass through the beautiful rural area of Piso Meria and return on the Circular route\, with impressive panoramas back to the west coast and the wild scenery of the mountain range chequered with dry stone walls. Lunch with local products. \n\n\nMeeting time: 9.45 am – Meeting & Walking point: Batsi waterfront parking \nWe travel by bus from the picturesque town of Batsi to the starting point of our walk over the mountain ridge of the Vourkoti area. Our hike takes us downhill towards the mountain village of Vourkoti. We walk along the riverbed of the largest river of Andros\, the Achla\, and over the arched bridge. We continue uphill to the small quaint village of Katakalaio where we can enjoy stunning views of the valley and the eastern coastline. \nAfter a short break at the village spring\, we continue downhill to the forested slope and village of Apikia\, with its famous springs\, then a visit to the Pythara waterfalls. As we walk we can take the opportunity to help with path maintenance\, by replacing missing way markers\, pruning back overgrown areas and improving the path by picking up fallen stones and placing them on adjacent dry stone walls. \nAt the end of the hike\, coach transport to Agia Irini Monastery to visit the exhibition rooms\, where flora\, geology and musical instruments of Andros are on display. DESCRIPTION: \nClick for Large Map\n \nAn 8.8 km Path Maintenance hike from the west coast and Batsi to the central Andros mountain and the Arni valley followed by a “Wine Festival” with local cuisine provided by the Arni Association. \n\n\nMeeting time: 9.45 am  Meeting point: Batsi waterfront parking\n \nAt the start of the hike we cross the scenic seaside settlement of Batsi  to the ancient wide paved path known as the Plakotos Route and turn towards Katakilos.  We pass through verdant areas with wonderful views to the western coastline and Batsi Bay and then we descend from the chapel of Agia Anna to the scenic settlement of Katakilos. After Katakilos we climb up to Ano Katakilos and continue towards lush Arni with its splendid streams and springs. Our walk starts at the spring – the only spring with marble washing stones. We will pass through successive splendid villages of Korthi\, Ammonakliou\, Niona and Piso Meria\, with springs\, churches and verdant areas\, and elaborate dry-stone walls. Walking towards the Monastery of Tromarchia\, the rural landscape is impressive\, as are the views towards Ormos Korthi. DESCRIPTION: \nIn the morning\, a visit to the exhibition of contemporary art of the Kydonieos Foundation as well as to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chora is recommended.  In the afternoon\, a 5km afternoon hike descending from the Agios Nikolaos Monastery to the lush riverbed and arched bridge of the Achla river and then ascending to the highest mountain village of Andros\, Vourkoti. Finally\, a lovely lunch\, provided by the Vourkoti Association including the local speciality “fourtalia” (local omelette with sausages) and mountain cheese tasting. \n\n\nMorning Visit to the contemporary art exhibitions of Andros:  9.20-10.45 am at the Kydonieos Foundation & then Goulandris Museum of Contemporary Art\, Chora \nHike Meeting Time: 15.30 pm    Meeting Point: Chora\, Nimboreio Seafront Parking \nTransported by coach from the Meeting Point to Agios Nikolaos Monastery\, our hike begins with a downhill walk towards the riverbed and arched bridge of Achla\, a lush and magnificent location of flowing water and rock pools. We then continue an uphill climb parallel to the river towards the foothills of the central mountain range of Kouvara to reach the picturesque mountain village of Vourkoti\, the highest mountain village of Andros. DESCRIPTION: \nMorning tour of the Archaeological Museum followed by an afternoon hike of 6km from Chora via Gialia beach and the Apoikia valley and Stenies. Guided tour of Agia Irini Monastery. Lunch with local cuisine and dance hosted by the Associations\, residents\, and professionals of Apoikia\n \n\n\n Meting Time morning Museum Tour : 9.20am – meeting Point : Chora Archeological Museum\n \nMeeting Time afternoon hike : 16.00  – Meeting Point : Chora\, Nibourio beach car park\n \nThe hike starts along the pedestrian raised wooden walkway on the edge of the bay and proceeds to the Andros Nautical Club where the hiking route starts with a climb to Tripes\, up between the two bays and then heads down to Gialia beach where if the weather is good there will be an opportunity to swim. After Galia the hike climbs up through the green valley of Stennies and Apoikia\, passing Fabrika\, the largest water mill in Andros. From there\, crossing the riverbed\, the route heads past the Leontos bridge with the beautiful village of Stenies above and climbs to the impressive ruins of the Bistro Tower and walk alongside the stream to Apatouria. After a short visit to the church of Agia Kyriaki the hike reaches Apoikia and the cool springs of Sariza spring. \nFrom Apoikia coach transport will take you by coach to the renovated old Monastery of Agia Irini and visit the impressive church with the marble icons as well as the remarkable exhibition rooms on the flora and rocks of Andros\, traditional musical instruments\, and writing instruments. DESCRIPTION:  \n \nA 6.3 Km hike from Panachrantos Castle Monastery\, to the fertile valley of Livadia. Visiting and touring the Panahrantos Monastery\, the Liokitra Estate and the Raptakis estate and a light snack from the Livadia Association. In the evening\, a special screening of the film “Little England” by Andros Cinema Society \n\n\nMeeting Time : 9:45 am. -Meeting Point for transport to start of hike: Chora\, Voyiatzidis building\n \nThe hike starts with a transfer by coach to the impressive Panachrantos Monastery. After visiting the Monastery\, the hike descends\, giving wonderful views of Chora and the Messaria Valley\, to the riverbed of the Livadia River. It then passes successive intersections with other hiking routes before crossing the riverbed of the Megálou Potamoú (Great River) and continuing along the river to the Liokitra estate. At the estate\, a break\, a guided tour of the beautiful citrus orchards. Then the hike continues alongside the riverbed passing the impressive fields of citrus trees enclosed by lines of huge cypresses. The hike ends with a visit to the Raptaki estate where the Cultural Association of Livadia will offer a local snack. \nThe light snack from the Livadion Association is followed by another 30 minutes of walking back to Chora.\n \nThe film screening starts at 21:15 – Chora Municipal Theatre. The film “Little England”\, refers to the nautical tradition and the history of Andros. DESCRIPTION: \nA 6.3 km hike from the lush settlement of Menites\, on to the historic settlement of Messaria\, the arched bridges\, the Foros cave at Aladinos and the picturesque settlement of Kourelio. Guided tour of the Foros cave at Aladinos. Lunch of local dishes and a chance to play the local game “Chouvia” hosted by the Pera Chorio Association. \n\n\nHike Meeting Time : 9:45 am. Meeting point: The Menites spring\n \nOur hike starts at the lush settlement of Menites famous for its lion head springs. We will descend alongside the overgrown stream and running water falls to reach the Byzantine capital of Andros\, Mesaria\, with its impressive towers. We will continue downhill to the Megálou Potamoú (Great River) bed and the Elementary arched bridge. Then\, we will climb to the picturesque settlement of Alladinos\, descend to the arched bridge and continue with a climb to the cave of Alainidou.
